San Antonio Food Bank’s Medals for Meals Reveal Party
Fiesta is fast approaching in San Antonio, and with all the pictures of Fiesta medals and events going around on social media, we’re getting pretty excited! We’ve never been to Fiesta- I know, that’s pretty bad, right? There’s a million reasons why, but instead of boring you with those, let me just say that we WILL be checking it out this year, and afterwards, I can finally start calling myself a San Antonian.
If you’re new to San Antonio, or if you’ve been living under a rock since you’ve been here (ahem…like some of us have been…), you’ll notice a lot of hoop-la leading up to the festival- events, parties, float parades at school- you name it, when it comes to Fiesta, San Antonio doesn’t play around.
But I wanted to touch on one event in particular, that I find to be very important. What’s important about this event is that it is a charitable event that benefits the community- which, from my previous posts on Childsafe, Pinot’s Palette, and Santikos, you already know that supporting the community is important to me. 😉
San Antonio Food Bank’s Medals for Meals Reveal Party
The San Antonio Food Bank services 16 counties and feeds 58,000 people EVERY WEEK. In addition to this, they deliver programs and resources to children, individuals, families, seniors, and military members in need. Their mission is, “…to fight hunger in Southwest Texas through food distribution, programs, education, and advocacy.”
On April 13th, they will be hosting their Medals for Meals Reveal Party- an event where 100% of the proceeds collected will go towards supplying meals for those in need.
For every $1 raised, they are able to provide 7 meals!!
The event is set to take place at the Food Bank on Thursday, April 13th from 5pm-7pm. Tickets can be purchased for $25 and include 1 SA Food Bank Fiesta medal, 1 food ticket, and 2 margarita drink tickets (who doesn’t love margaritas?!).
In partnership with the Food Bank, other donors like Sea Island, The Wash Tub, Love Shack Boutique, Daisy Cares, and State Rep. Diego Bernal, will be there to sell their medals- which will also benefit the Food Bank. This will be a fun event for a good cause, and I encourage you to check it out!
You can find tickets online at Medals for Meals Reveal Party
Check the event out on Facebook or on the San Antonio Food Bank website.
Volunteer Opportunities
Are you looking to help out? The Food Bank has volunteer opportunities for families Monday-Saturday (Monday, 8a,-5pm, Tuesday, 9:30am-8pm, Wednesday, 9:30am-8pm, Thursday-Friday, 8am-5pm, Saturdays, 8:30am-2:00pm).
There are two main areas to volunteer including the sorting room and farm and garden areas. Children are allowed with an adult present. If you are interested in getting involved, getting your family involved, or getting a group involved, please visit: Ways to Help.
If you can’t volunteer your time, there are other opportunities to help through the link above, too.
I hope you’ll consider going to the Medals for Meals Reveal Party or volunteering/donating to the Food Bank. They are a tremendous help in the community that 58,000 people depend on.
Have you ever volunteered at the Food Bank? Does your family volunteer? How do you help your community? I’d love to hear about it in the comments below.
