Taking Date Night to New Heights in San Antonio

Taking Date Night to New Heights in San Antonio

My husband and I rarely get out of the house for a date. Our date night usually consists of a bottle of wine and a few episodes of Shameless after the kids have gone to bed because not only is this incredibly easy and cheap, but it doesn’t require leaving my toddler (who has separation anxiety) with a sitter.

While anything involving my husband (and wine!) is always fun, it’s nice to get out and about, too!

We’ve been in San Antonio for 4 years now and this Jersey native still has a lot to learn about her new home. Having more time together out of the house has also become important to me because I feel like doing different things together helps us to grow both as individuals and together as a couple.

So finding different and fun things to do, or different date night ideas in San Antonio has been our goal this year. We’ve definitely added a few fun and different dates to our repertoire (Check out this one and this one!), but by far, my absolute favorite was iFLY!!

Taking Date Night to New Heights with iFLY San Antonio

For creative date night ideas, look no further! iFly San Antonio is an amazing indoor skydiving experience that is sure to make married couples happy on date night!!

I was not compensated for this post, but I did receive free passes to experience iFLY’s indoor skydiving for myself. My opinions are my own.

iFLY is an indoor skydiving experience. Yes. You heard that right. We went from Netflix and chill to skydiving…. and I have no regrets!!

You know what’s great about indoor skydiving? No parachute required. No expensive classes to take. You simply take an easy 20-minute training session and you’re ready to free fall in the tunnel!! They provide you with all the equipment needed and the experience is open to anyone aged 3 to 103.

Our Indoor Skydiving Experience

There are so many words I can use to describe this experience, but the one that comes to mind the most is: FUN. This was so incredibly fun and an experience like no other.

Our instructor made the experience fun and safe by guiding us through with easy instructions that included simple hand signs. He even guided us up into the tunnel, in a whirl-wind like formation!

Now I am known for my motion sickness. I’m a roller coaster fanatic turned “too sick to ride” purse holder. I was a little concerned about what the experience would do to me, but my worries were unfounded.

I didn’t experience motion sickness or anything of the sort. Just fun. I didn’t get that free-falling stomach-turning sensation I thought I’d be sure to have, either. In fact, I can’t really explain how it felt in the tunnel, except secure and FUN!!! It’s something you just need to experience yourself.

Check out my husband’s moves:

If you’ve ever seen the 1971 version of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, you’ll likely remember the part where Charlie and his Grandfather make their way into the fizzy lifting drink tunnel. Although there was a ton more wind in the iFLY tunnel (and no near-death experience like in the movie), I felt much like Charlie and his Grandfather, laughing and having a great time.

My husband and I both got 2 minutes each in the tunnel separated by a minute at a time. It seems like a small amount of time, but for this experience, it was perfect. We both had so much fun and it was definitely a date night in San Antonio to remember!!

Booking Your Flight at iFLY

Are you ready to take date night to new heights? I definitely recommend iFLY as an awesome date night destination. It was a great experience and so much fun. It beat out some of the best episodes of Vikings and Shameless by far (sorry, wine!) and we cannot wait to fly again.

Not only is iFLY great for date nights, but they also offer a bunch of different ways to enjoy indoor skydiving fun. They also offer:

Birthday Packages/ Private Parties

Corporate Outings/Sales Events

Education Field Trips (Focusing on STEM lessons)

Have a date night experience in San Antonio like no other! Check out iFly San Antonio for some fun indoor skydiving!

  • That is such a great thing to do for date night. Very unique indeed. Do you recommend this for someone who has never done this activity before?

    • Heu Nayantara!! I absolutely recommend this for newcomers! I suffer from motion sickness and it’s made it made going on roller coasters and such nearly impossible for me (this can=me with age, unfortunately). I was nervous about how I would feel during teh flight- and I felt completely fine!! There are certain weight requirements and if you have had any neck or back injuries, it’s not recommended (and of course, if you are pregnant, you shouldn’t either), but otherwise, it’s for everyone, ages 3 to 103. LOL

  • What a great idea for a date night. I love the idea of using date night to explore your local surroundings. I’m not brave enough to do a real sky dive but I could get on board with something like this x

  • Wow! My husband would love to do this. I need to stop being a scardy cat and go too. It looks like an amazing time and I have an iFly near me too.

    • Hey Kerri!! Totally try it! I was a little nervous, but there was definitely nothing to be nervous about and it was SOOOO fun!

  • I have been seeing this everywhere. We have something like it in Portland too. I would never do it. The thought alone is terrifying.

  • This looks like an awesome experience in San Antonio! My husband and I are exploring the state of Texas and there’s just so much to it! It’s big enough to be its own country! I would like to know what else we could do in and around the San Antonio area that possibly doesn’t involve drinking. We grew out of that many years ago, but iFly looks like so much fun!

    • Hey Chrissy! There’s always the Alamo, the Riverwalk and River City Run. Check out my other posts at the bottom of the post or under the Expereiences in SA tab. 🙂

  • I’m always interested in trying new things just for the experience and iFly looks like so much fun. Don’t be surprised if you see me trying it soon. 🙂

  • How random, we have Ifly in the UK and me and my other half went there on Friday night to do the indoor skydiving. What a small world. It’s so much fun isn’t it?! x

  • This looks so much fun. I already told my husband I want to try out indoor sky diving. We just need to find a location close to us.
