Three’s a Charm…

Three’s a Charm…

Three’s a Charm…

For quite some time now, I’ve wanted to create the perfect blog… Those exist, right? Like a successful blog, with fancy graphics and plug-ins, 300,000+ followers, relevant ads and amazing content garnished with professional quality pics. The time has come to make that dream a reality… Now I just need all of those things, camera included.

As high maintenance as my blog needs are, my first two blogs didn’t make the cut. Yes. This is my THIRD blog in five years. I suppose you probably have a lot of questions about that. Like: What happened to the other blogs? What will make this one so different?

Well, if you haven’t already read my “About” page, let me fill you in… I’m in a constant state of change- geographically, physically and emotionally. The first blog fell through because of change and timing. My heart was there, but other areas of my life demanded more of my attention than I could dedicate to writing.

Three years later, the second blog was born but never flourished. The Perfectionist (and coding novice) in me got too caught up in the mechanics of blogging- the themes, the plug-ins, the logo creating- it all took away from the heart of the blog- the content. I quickly lost interest. (The domain name didn’t quite suit me, either.)Halloween 2015 Family WL2

So now I suppose you are asking yourself, “What makes Wine and Lavender so different?” Well, for starters, I’ve learned that regardless of change and timing, you need to learn to make time for things that matter to you as an individual. You don’t stop being an individual when you become a Mom. It’s important to make time for yourself, too. In fact, I’d say that it should be a priority.

I’ve also since learned that I cannot be a perfectionist. I have too many kids and not enough limbs or time. (I’d like to keep my hair, thank you.) I had to VERY RELUCTANTLY give up my OCD tendencies, as I’ve come to accept that I cannot possibly learn everything about the blog world in one day, one week or even one year. Like life, you learn as you go. (I’ve found that a little wine here and there also helps.)

Now fast forward to today- I’m freelance writing and have my wonderful baby blog- Wine and Lavender. I’m making the time, I’m taking my time, and I’m perfectly content with being imperfect. Wine and Lavender pretty accurately describes how I manage to get through this wonderful, yet crazy life. The content comes from my heart and like me, this blog is a work in process and that’s okay with me.

Finally. Three’s a charm.
