Advertising giants have it all down to a science. They can make us see the things they want us to see and make us do things we normally wouldn’t do through messages and advertisements. But we all know that the best form of advertising is through word of mouth.

I try not to take advertisements too seriously because I know that the message is intended to do one thing- get you to react in the way that they want you to. Instead, I often rely on word of mouth or referrals from my friends, family or others like me. You know, real life people who have the same wants and needs- that could make USEFUL recommendations, not sales pitches. Well here’s a recommendation from me to you.

Chalet. It is a local, small business (I LOVE local, small businesses!!) that specializes in women’s clothing, accessories and beauty supplies. I had a chance to visit the air store recently and just had to let you guys know about!

I was not compensated for this post but was given a swag bag as a thank you for attending the event. All opinions are my own.

Too many times have I walked passed a store, not bothering to go in because, well- I really don’t need to be spending money needlessly. Also, I’ve almost given up on window shopping completely because of my three little ones. They don’t even like to go to HEB with me, much less a ladies’ store.

Then I was invited to the Chalet Winter Social. Chalet is a women’s clothing, accessories, and beauty store with two locations in San Antonio- one in Alamo Heights and the other in Alamo Ranch. They recently released a new cosmetics line and in order to spread the word, invited bloggers in San Antonio to come take a look. I’m always looking for beauty products that work well, are clean, and easy to use so I figured, why not?

(It also gave me a chance to get away and have some girl time- even if for only a little bit.)

Let me just say that I had it in my head that I was there to see the cosmetics, but when I walked in the door I was surprised to find so much more! Beautiful clothing, jewelry, and bath bombs greeted me as I made my way to the cosmetics in the back.

They sell clothing from brands like Free People, For Love & Lemons, Johnny Was, Splendid & Ella Moss, and more. They sell accessories from designers like Amanda Sterett, and Kendra Scott. Their bath bombs looked and smelled good enough to eat. Actually, it took me quite a while to get to the cosmetics because I was distracted by so many wonderful things in this lovely boutique.

So back to the reason for my visit- they offer all-natural beauty products that are cruelty-free and paraben-free. Their products are eco-friendly and don’t contain any harmful toxins or chemicals that you can’t even pronounce. ALL huge bonuses in my book. I was given a mini-makeover to sample some of their wonderful products and was quite pleased with the results!

From their Mermaid Wash to their Agua Fresca and Rainforest Rinse, this store has enough skin care products to suit the needs of all beautiful women. I loved their motto, “Hello, Love. Prepare to unleash Gorgeous.” With so many great buy and beauty options, they certainly make it easy.

I was lucky enough to get some samples and am in love with their Ballerina Balm!! Their candle fills my bathroom with a delicious, spa-like fragrance that makes relaxing at the end of the day that much more enjoyable, too.

Chalet also offers a selection of spa treatments to include facials and waxing. I had no idea that so many wonderful things happened in this store and I definitely plan to make a trip back! (Without the kids- because this is the perfect place for some “me” time).

There were just too many cute things and cosmetics that I absolutely fell in love with. So here it is from me to you:  If you’re in San Antonio and in either one of these areas, you need to stop by.
